Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart School Community,

Prayer (For our First Communicants)

Dear Lord

We thank You and praise You for the most precious gift of the Holy Eucharist. We ask You to bless all those who are preparing to receive Your Body and Blood for the first time.

You have provided for us richly through the gift of Your Body and Blood in the Eucharist.

Amen

First Eucharist Candidates

Our students preparing to receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time on Sunday 23rd July, are excited and working hard so they understand the importance of this next significant step in their faith journey. We pray for them and their families as they enter their final week of preparation.

Parent Evening - "Communicating with your child post COVID"

Our School Board is sponsoring a parent information evening later this term on Thursday 31st August. The evening will be facilitated by our school counsellor Melanie D'Vaz and will cover the topic of communication with our children especially with the challenges of a post COVID environment. More detail can be gained by reading Kate's section in this newsletter. Further details will also be given as the date draws closer. These evenings in 2018 and 2019 proved invaluable for those parents and guardians who attended with feedback from attendees being very positive.

"Inspirer and Inspired"

Followers of our school Facebook and Instagram will know the story behind the picture of our two students above. Earlier in the year, our Year Four student Lauren donated her cut locks to the charity "Hair for Heart". Hair for Heart creates wigs for children battling cancer. Our Foundation student Stella was so inspired by Lauren, that she donated her cut locks over the holidays for the same cause. You know that a school's student culture is healthy, when you have instances of students inspiring fellow students to do good. Great work Lauren and Stella.

New Playground Spaces

Our new outdoor space and adventure playground are proving very popular with our students.

School Captains Acknowledged

Our school captains for 2023, Amelia and Enock now have their names engraved on our school leadership plaque. The plaque is displayed with pride in our school foyer.

Pop Corn For Sale

We will be selling popcorn for $1.00 packet on Fridays (depending on the product being available) this term. Like the selling of icy poles in Terms One and Four, it is a small treat for our students and fundraiser for our school.

Parents and Friends News

The main task this morning for our Parents and Friends members, was choosing gifts for the Father's Day Stall later this term. Dads Glenn, Jeffrey, Jack and William were very involved ensuring there were gifts chosen they would like to receive from their children!

Tuesday's Keyboard and Guitar Program

Some positions for keyboard and guitar lessons have become available this term. Lessons take place on a Tuesday with Davide. See the office for more details if you are interested.

Yours Sincerely

Mark
