Visual Art
We had a very special visitor in Visual Art this week. Albert Fagan is an Aboriginal Artist, and he taught our students how to create a traditional painting. He is also an elder and Traditional Custodian of the Wadawurrung area. He shared his skills as a painter with the students and they really enjoyed having a go at dot painting. A special shout out to 5/6 Clancy for a wonderful session with Uncle Bert. Students have now completed their Claude Monet inspired finger paintings, and they look fantastic. In the final week of term, we will finish off our art pieces and students will take their work home to share with their families.
Junior School News
This term, Junior students have been learning about history! To start the term, we explored the history of Ancient China and developed an understanding of what life looked like thousands of years ago! For the second half of the term, students have explored Community Histories, the duration of time, and how daily life has changed. They have used this knowledge to write persuasively!
In Maths, we have been learning to read maps and follow directions. Students worked together to navigate their way around the school, collecting stickers at different coordinates. Students then used their knowledge of maps to create their own maps of a significant place.
It has been a wonderful term in the Junior school, and we hope everyone has a restful break ready for Term 3!
