CROSS COUNTRY NEWS

On Tuesday May 30th, we had  3 students represent Carnegie Primary School at Karkarook Park in the Kingston division cross country event ;  Remi W, Maddie W and Flynn W.

All of these runners did extremely well making it through to division and gave it their best. A special mention goes to Flynn W who will now compete at the Regional Competition on Wednesday 14th June at Hastings Foreshore. We wish you all the best.

U12 SCHOOL SPORT VICTORIA (SSV)-FOOTBALL TRIALS

Well done to Elliot and Zavier who represented CPS at the Victorian U12 school boys football trials recently.

Further congratulations to Elliot who reached the round of 72 boys (out of 700+) vying for one of 23 places on the team. In a field of very fast, strong and talented boys from across metro and country Victoria, Elliot held his own with his hard running and classy disposals.

A wonderful experience and achievement. Well done to you both!

WINTER LIGHTNING PREMIERSHIP

On Thursday 8th June, our year 5 and 6 students competed in various sports for our Winter Lightning Premiership. All students represented Carnegie Primary in a wonderful way by showing great sportsmanship and competing fairly in all sports.

At Princes Park, we had the AFL and T-Ball teams playing and both finished with lots of wins. Our AFL Gold team only lost one game and finished 2nd overall and our Girls T-Ball team managed to win all their games and will represent CPS at the Division Finals next term.

The netball teams played at Ashwood netball courts and our four teams put on a great show. They walked away with a few wins throughout the day but more importantly, developed new skills and connections with their peers. A special mention must go to Katie T, who coached her netball team and supported them with their position and substitutions.

The Soccer teams had a nice stroll down to Lord Reserve for their matches. Unfortunately, the rain from overnight didn’t help the ground conditions but our students didn’t let that ruin their day. We were fortunate to win a few games and the district coordinators commended them on their behaviour.

Well done to all involved and the awesome effort of our CPS staff.

* *A special thanks to the Glen Eira Football club and Stewart Howell for the amazing help with setting up the fields on the day. We couldn't have done it without you!**
