WYD Lisbon Update: 04 August 2023

We are excited to share the latest update on World Youth Day (WYD) 2023, which is taking place in Lisbon, Portugal. As of August 2023, WYD Lisbon has been an incredible success, drawing an unprecedented number of attendees from various continents. The heartwarming highlight of the event was the Papal Mass celebrated by Pope Francis himself. His presence has invigorated the youth, urging them to take action in addressing global issues and embracing compassion and solidarity in their communities.

Our student pilgrims Althea and Bryce, teacher pilgrims, Mrs Atkins, Mr Bettiol, Ms Rego, Ms D’Mello and Ms Ruiz Davila are blessed to be physically present there to witness this transformative event. Watch this clip to know more about what Bryce and Althea are experiencing in Lisbon.

Stay tuned for further updates as we continue to follow the inspiring journey of World Youth Day 2023 in Lisbon.

Operation Christmas Child!

This year we would like to participate in the Social Justice initiative of 'Operation Christmas Child'. This initiative involves us packing shoe boxes full of items an underprivileged child from overseas can receive during the Christmas period.

If your family would like to participate in this, it will require an initial cost of $12.50 through the QKR app to cover the labelling and shipping of your box. In addition, you will need to consider sourcing your own shoe box and the cost of filling up the box with items.

You will need to select through the QKR app whether you would like to fill a box for a boy or girl and their specific age group for the purpose of labelling the boxes. If you have not yet, could you please also fill in this google form to confirm your decision for cross-referencing purposes.

As labels need to be ordered and delivered to us to place on boxes, you will need to process your selection and payment through the QKR app no later than Week 4 Term 3The box can be returned to school, to your child’s classroom anytime until Friday Week 9 ready for delivery.

As always, thank you for your support and generosity!

Vinnies Winter Sleepout

In term 3 we are planning to have a Pyjama Day for K-4 and a Vinnies Winter Awareness activity evening for years 5-8.  In this way all students will have some exposure to the real life issue of Homelessness in Australia.

We are attempting to raise money and also provide donations of warm socks, beanies, gloves, mittens, scarves and hand warmers for St Vincent de Paul and those vulnerable people in our community that need help at this time of the year.

To make a donation please use the QKR App and click on fundraisers and you will see Winter Sleepout

As always, thank you for your support and generosity!
