On Wednesday 14th June, Chilwell A welcomed Belmont Primary for our round one debate. The topic was That the Voting Age Should Be Lowered to 16, and we were the affirmative team, meaning we had to agree with the topic. Lewis was first speaker, Minnie was second speaker and Asher was third speaker.
It was a close debate, but the team did a fantastic job and came away with the win, using persuasive arguments and relevant research to convince the adjudicator that we should let people vote at 16. Special congratulations to Asher for being awarded Best Speaker of the debate.
The next round will be early next term and both debating teams are excited to be representing Chilwell again. Thanks to Mrs Stephenson and Mr Cole for all their help with the preparation.
