PERFORMING ARTS
Yet again I am thrilled with the number of performances we have had over the last two weeks.
GIGS ON THE GREEN
Congratulations to Rowen Hull 11F, Kate Nguyen 11J and Tali Rudzki 11L who performed at the Gigs on the Green, with Mr Ben Browne, on Wednesday 25 October to an incredibly receptive crowd. Well done on your fantastic performance!
SAXOPHONE QUARTET PERFORMS AT THISTLELONIANS 50 YEAR AFTERNOON TEA
Thank you to the Saxophone Quartet who performed at the Thistlelonians 50 Year Afternoon Tea held at the East Campus for past students who left McKinnon in 1973. The ensemble performed a large and entertaining repertoire that filled the great atrium in the centre of the building with luscious sound that echoed through all four floors.
It was a marvellous sonic experience to hear these skilled musicians from three levels above and many of the past students attending the event commented on the quality of the music. Members of the Saxophone Quartet are JJ Braithwaite 10B, Michael Liu 10J, Tonya Mikhaylova 11J and Amelie Villella 10P.

YEAR 10 DRAMA AT THE MALTHOUSE - SUITCASE SERIES
On Thursday 26 October we arrived at the Malthouse Theatre to perform our 20-minute version of Atlantis to other schools and the Suitcase Series, Malthouse Company.
Part of the challenge of the event was to fit all of our props, costumes and sets into a suitcase as a way of learning to reduce our carbon footprint. We arrived at 9 am and got ready, putting on costumes and putting on our makeup. We then watched the first three short plays from other schools. We got to discover the way other people view climate change and how they spread that message.
After a short break, we performed our version of Atlantis, tackling themes of climate change and how we feel it impacts us and our community. We very much enjoyed this project, whether the planning or the development or the presenting stage. It has allowed us all as individuals to push a lot of boundaries and experiment with a range of new things. It was a wonderful experience.
Thank you to Ms Adler and Ms Same for supporting us during the experience.

PERCUSSION NIGHT
Congratulations to our amazing percussion students who performed at the annual Percussion Night concert on Friday 3 November at the McKinnon Road Campus. The focused work that these students have undertaken over the last year was truly evident. Thank you to Sergei Golovko for working with all these students this year, and to Dmitry Serebrianik for his support and organisation of the concert.
AMEB
The final session of the 2023 AMEB exams have finished, and we have had some extraordinary results across many instruments. Congratulations to all students who took part in these, and to their instrumental teachers who helped present these students for their exams.
