POP UP CREPES AT EAST

Hi I’m Yeri Soung, a Year 9 Languages Leader at East Campus. On Wednesday 1 November, a crepe van (Pop-Up Crepes) visited the East campus. 

This event was organised by Madame Lynd, and the languages leaders, especially Alex Do 9G. We put a lot of effort into planning this event but our hard work was worth the wonderful results. Teachers, staff and students all got to experience a part of French culture and were left with beautiful memories.

The French crepes planned by the languages leaders and Madame Lynd were delicious and met everyone's expectations. Everyone enjoyed the Crepe experience making it a huge success that we would be down to try again in the future. The main highlight was the students spending time getting to know more of the cultural foods of the languages learnt at McKinnon and having a great time overall.

NEW LANGUAGES LEADERS FOR EAST

On Monday 30 October, at the East Campus, the current Languages Leaders assisted in conducting interviews for new languages leaders for 2024. We conducted these interviews to establish a foundation of new leaders to ensure that the Languages Society can continue to thrive within our East Campus Community. 

I have been a Languages Leader for two years now and watching the Languages Society grow in the past two years has been amazing. It has been great to see more people join the team and assist in initiatives that help to promote languages at McKinnon. I loved interviewing some of our current Year 8 students to hear about their keen interest in becoming a Languages Leader. We are truly grateful to have such a strong languages community at McKinnon. 

I would like to congratulate all the students who were successful in their applications, and we are very excited to have you on the team. The current Languages Leaders at the East Campus will be busily preparing all our new leaders for 2024 by helping brainstorm new ideas for the new year! 

We can’t wait to see the fabulous initiatives our new leaders take next year!
