Retirement of our Crossing Supervisor Joan

Last Thursday I was e-mailed by Glen Eira Council that our much loved crossing supervisor Joan had decided to retire effective immediately.

Joan has been with the Council for around 24 years and has been a wonderful asset. She has been crossing children from our school for around 20 years, which is a truly wonderful achievement.

Glen Eira Council wanted to share this information with us, as we would all be wondering she is! She is well and fit, but just decided that it was time to retire.

On behalf of our entire school community, past and present, I would like to publicly thank Joan for all her hard work keeping our families safe. She has made so many wonderful connections with our parents and children, and will be very much missed by all. We wish we had the opportunity to celebrate her and let her know what a wonderful part of our school community she has been for so long. We wish her all the best in her retirement. We will miss you Joan!

Congratulations Mr Rounsley!

In the holiday, our wonderful Assistant Principal Grant Rounsley welcomed his second baby to his family. Congratulations to Grant, his wife Tess and their daughter Lidi-Mae on the safe arrival of wee Posie!

Grant will be away for the first four weeks of term on parental leave, and in his absence Hannah Southin will be stepping into the Acting Assistant Principal role. You can always find her out on duty before and after school, or give her a call via the office should you wish to speak with her. David Steele is covering 2D for this time. He is a very experienced teacher and has worked at our school frequently over the past few years so is very familiar with Valkstone.
