What is the GAT (General Achievement Test)? The GAT assesses skills in Mathematics, Science, Technology, Arts and Humanities. Sitting the GAT is an opportunity to demonstrate your literacy and numeracy skills. GAT results are important for checking if school-based assessments have been accurately and fairly assessed, and can be used if you have a Derived Examination Score approved.
Between Section A and B of the GAT - a fashion parade was held and burgers were served for lunch organised by the VM VCE students.
Our Year 12 students only have 12 weeks of school left. 😲😲😲😲😲
Year 12 students are reminded it's a great time to upload their 'Then and Now' photos in the coming holidays. The date for graduation will be Thursday 16th November.
On Friday the 2nd of June the Bairnsdale Secondary College held its annual Year 11 Formal. The theme was Starry Starry night, there was 77 participants and over 320 guests in attendance. The night kicked off with students having their professional photos taken, a practise of their dances and a dinner in the staffroom. Then the formal part of the evening commenced where all the students were presented to the audience and did 3 great dances which they were taught be dance instructor Michael Lancaster a former student of our College. Everyone then enjoyed supper and dancing.
Last Wednesday the Year 10 students had an optional excursion to Federation University. The aim of the Access Fed University program is to ensure young people are informed, prepared and connected to higher education. As part of the program Year 10 students were invited to spend a day on-campus at Federation University Gippsland Campus where they participated in study skills sessions, toured the campus, including the residential units and listened to presentations from university staff and students.
We would like to wish Tajwyn, Bess and Lily all the best and safe travels on the school holidays when they will trek the Kokoda Trail. We look forward to hearing about their adventure when they return.
Caving, abseiling and rock-climbing day.
Our VCE Outdoor Education class travelled to Buchan where students participated in a range of fun, challenging outdoor activities. The day started with abseiling and rock climbing and concluded with some challenging caving. Everyone had lots of fun and it was great to see everyone get involved.
VM students as part of their PDS (Personal Development Skills) subject planned a café lunch for staff. Students gathered orders from staff and prepared the lunch. The meal included a burger, slice and drink. The meal deal was enjoyed by lot of staff.
Well done to everyone involved.
