Deadly Box Working a Treat!

To help boost attendance in our Academy students we have introduced the deadly box draw. For the boys to earn their name into the draw and receive a good bunch lunch on Monday's they must attend 100% from the week before.

The deadly box got some interest straight away, with 24 boys reaching the 100% for week 2. Each week more and more boys are attending 100% of the time. Our year 7 boys have been very strong this term.

Trading Places

The Bairnsdale Academy hosted Trade Day in their Academy room looking at some options of what is available in our local community.

When online learning become the norm in some states over COVID-19, some boys really struggled with the concept preferring face to face learning over the screen. In that period, we lost what would have been our biggest cohort to graduate Year 12 and opt for securing a trade. These boys are now alumni and still form integral part of our program and have shown what career opportunities are available in our region.

Trade day had several alumni attend the event talking about their current employment, and the transition from school to the big wide world of getting a job of choice. The Bairnsdale Academy would like to thank the boys for returning, sharing stories and knowledge, but more importantly their employers who have given them an opportunity to gain employment, then take time out of their busy day to attend our trade day.

We look forward to continuing the vital space of transition into a job, and local businesses providing such opportunities for work placement, trainee-ships and apprenticeships in future.
