School Sport
State Representatives
Tens of thousands SA kids compete in School Sport SA (formerly SAPSASA) events each year. They represent their school and if good enough, represent their district. If they are exceptional, they get selected to represent SA at interstate competitions.
This year, we have five students who have gained state team selection, a remarkable achievement that shows we are re-establishing our school as a place that strives for sporting excellence.
We wish year 7 student’s Charli N and Holly T the best of luck as they travel to Canberra for the School Sport Australia National Softball Championships. I’m sure they will represent LBS well.
At the end of week six we have year 6 students Amelie B and Marcus Q, along with Ava G from year 5, heading to Melbourne to represent SA in the School Sport Australia Track and Field Championships. Amelie and Marcus also made the team last year. We wish them all the best for the championships.
Both Holly and Charli played softball at school and then joined Port Adelaide Softball Club where they developed their skills. Amelie, Marcus and Ava are members of West Lakes Little Athletics Club or Port Adelaide Athletics Club where they receive expert coaching. We encourage students to get involved in community sporting clubs as it has massive benefits for wellbeing, no matter what level they are at.

Kanga Cricket
Week 1 of the Term 4 Woodville South Kanga competition got underway with coaches, players and parents adapting to some slight rule changes introduced since Term 1. Players were quick to pick up that more runs were on offer if they hit the ball straight, thanks to the introduction of the POWER PLAY ZONE whilst everyone stayed in the game regardless of wides and no balls with the introduction of FREE HIT TEES
