Parachuting and Promise

Joy.

It is a difficult thing to describe or pin down, but spend half an hour dancing along with Timomatic and his crew and you will know exactly what it feels like.

The Hope Tour came to Belgrave Heights Christian School (BHCS) on Wednesday, June 20 and there were so many powerful moments.

Describing what it was like to grow up feeling like a nobody, Franco shared about how our ‘greatest setbacks are just a dress rehearsal for our comebacks’.  He encouraged the students to find hope by:

  • Recognising the Reality - facing up to the facts of how life might not be the way you want it to be
  • Reaching Out - as a sign of strength rather than weakness, to friends, teachers and God
  • Resisting the Urge to Give Up - using the idea of ‘pushing up’ giving us more strength as we practice both physically and mentally
  • Finding the Reward - by sharing our stories and finding life in moving towards a brighter future

When Timomatic took the stage, students of all ages streamed down the aisles to dance - laughing, flossin and dabbing and enjoying the heights of emotion.  When the last strains died down, he too shared about the ups and downs of his own journey (from So You Think You Can Dance to performer and judge on Australia’s Got Talent) and how, after his Manager’s death in 2014, he had to come to a place where he absolutely knew the reason why he performs.  It is a gift - of joy and movement, of connection and hope.

When invited to connect with our biggest Reason for life, so many students responded with open hearts.

It certainly was a gift for all of us.
