In the Classroom & Beyond

Year 11 Chemistry

Students have been studying precipitation reactions in the lead up to learning about gravimetric analysis. Year 11 students have been conducting experiments to see which solutions combine to form a precipitate.

Graeme Clark Oration

On Monday the 22nd of July, seven of our students attended the Graeme Clark Oration to hear Professor Timothy Denison talk about "electrical prescription". This is a pioneering technique where Parkinson's sufferers are having their tremors relieved via direct electrical stimulation to the brain via an integrated microcomputer.

The students attended a special schools session where they heard a brief history of Professor Denison's pathway and research and then had a chance to ask him a wide range of questions.

After a chance to rub shoulders with a range of researchers they then attended the main lecture in the company of hundreds of other interested in science. At the end of the event our students waited patiently to meet Graeme Clark the inventor of the modern bionic ear or Cochlea implant as it is know to the science community.
