School Strategic Plan

2019 - 2022

During 2018 we undertook the school review process to determine what had been achieved over the previous 4 years and to set goals for the next 4 years. Two main goals have been set:

  1. To improve student learning growth across all learning areas.
  2. To achieve a culture of high expectations to raise aspirations and the achievement of all students.

To enable us to achieve these goals, a number of key improvement strategies have been developed.

Some of these include; building teacher capacity, continue to build curriculum, incorporate a range of teaching strategies, increase student voice and agency and increase the use of student achievement data.

These goals also align with our vision statement:

‘LHS is dedicated to providing an environment that values academic excellence and maximises opportunities and pathways to enable all students to become resilient and contributing members of the community’

‘Excellence in learning, resilience in life, thriving in community’

We are looking forward to continuing the journey of making LHS a place where all students can achieve.

Building Program Update

The design plans for the new Zoology Centre and Administration Building are currently being approved.

The 5.8 million dollar project is tracking well and work should start in the second part of the year.

Year 12 Results 2018

Our Year 12 results from 2018 were very pleasing with 87% of students receiving a first round offer for tertiary studies.

We had a number of students scoring an ATAR of over 90, with our DUX Damien Armstrong scoring 98.05.   Congratulations and well done to these students scoring in excess of 90.

Our average study score is 28, one of the best in the area. Congratulations to everyone who successfully completed their VCE in 2018!

** High Expectations ** Uniform & Mobile Phones

Thank you to everyone for your support in relation to uniform and mobile phone policies. We have had to remind a number of students about mobile phone use and facial piercings over the past week.

It is important that everyone complies with the rules and expectations so that we can get on with the business of learning in a safe and consistent environment.

Our policies in relation to both of these matters can be found on the school website.

Communications

You can contact any staff member via Compass email or via phone at any stage, they will return your communications.

In the interests of work – life balance for our staff there is a policy in place regarding the timing of communication.

Staff will reply to emails within 48 hours, however, they are not obliged to check emails after 4.30 pm.  if there is an urgent need for communication please phone the school directly.
