Easter Service

By Nick Crawley (Chaplain)

Easter, it's always such a beautiful time of year, the pace of life wound back ever so slightly. There always seems to be some remnant of Summer weather and the overeating of hot cross buns and eggs - it's just the way it is. But I can't help reflecting, pondering, unpacking, postulating around all that this time of year throws up. The Christian stuff.

Last week we set aside some time as a whole school so as not to miss the opportunity to spend some time dwelling on Easter. Whether it was a video offering, a vox pop contribution, musical items, devotional dialogues, dramatic reshaping or just a quiet reflection, there was something for everyone. Somewhat different to previous years, the Easter Service had lots and lots to chew on. It never lingered too long, so as to drag, nor skip ahead too fast to be missed.

A big thank you to all who contributed and offered something of themselves and their time. So what do we do now with the Easter offering? Do we tuck it away for another year and move on to the next thing? Parents, students and staff who attended last week were presented with the Prodigal Story - a story of independence, of selfishness, of love, of forgiveness, of joy. The Father figure in the story impacts us all with his open arms: always open, never folded and reflected in the story of the cross, the work of Jesus; always current, never forgotten.
