JETS RETURNS ONSITE FROM JULY 20th!

Jets will return to face to face delivery at our creative studios at from July 20th. We have put a number of measures in place to keep everyone safe. We have reduced the number of programs offered each night so that there are less people in the space to respect social density and make it easier for everyone to still have fun and move around comfortably. There is additional cleaning taking place every day and staff have received training in implementing this. There is limited availability in some programs - please contact us for more information. Please note, young people need to be enrolled in a program to attend  

Programs: For 14-25 year olds  - IncArt- inclusive Drawing and visual Arts program; Band Jam-  learn to play new songs with others; Music Vibes - share music and relax; NewHope - hiphop and Streetart; FReeZa - events committee; Rainbow Space - for people who identify as LGBTIQ+ and their allies; Production Crew (online)- make podcasts.

Experiences of Family Violence for a young person. FREE PROFESSIONAL TRAINING ONLINE

Banyule 100 - Samatar Yusuf.

Banyule 100 is a project that highlights all that is great about young people and the adults who support young people. 

For a number of years, Banyule’s young writers and photographers have cast a spotlight on some exceptional community members.  For the first time, we have now included a bonus podcast profiling Banyule Council’s very own Samatar Yusuf.

New Workshops for young people –Safe Partying 

In addition to previously uploaded workshop (Wellbeing & Selfcare, Money & budgeting and Your Legal Rights & Getting a job) we have now made available our Safe Partying workshops online via video and associated information sheet. 

The Safe Partying workshop covers topics such as planning a party, going to a party, planning transport, alcohol and tobacco, calling for help, alcohol safety tips and a few True or False questions to encourage class or small group discussion.

Takeover Melbourne

Takeover Melbourne is a new initiative in partnership with the ABC and is about providing young people a platform to be heard.

It’s open to all young people aged 12-18 to share a story about their life and submit it to the Takeover Melbourne Competition.  Competition winners will work with ABC producers to have their story featured on ABC TV, radio or online which will be an amazing opportunity! Entries must be a true story about an aspect of the author's life. Stories can be in any format: text, video or audio. The recommended length is 400 words or 2- 4min for audio. They have a Top 10 Story Tips and FAQ which give more detail.

YouthFest2020 Update: 

YouthFest2020 will look a little bit different this year! We are planning for a smaller event to be held in early December. There will be a full stage with live local performances, a headliner (TBA), activities, stalls and online offers - market stalls and competitions. The day will be live streamed so people can also attend or watch from home. More details to come!

Our new Design Club will run across six weeks, with each week focusing on a new topic, including Basic Drawings, Tracing, Perspective, Gradient and Collage using industry-standard design software, Adobe Illustrator.  Expert facilitators will provide live demonstrations of tools and techniques, followed by individual activities and project development. Students can use this time to seek technical advice on other visual projects. Each session will conclude with a group discussion and opportunity to share. This club will provide a fun opportunity to be creative whilst learning how to use a powerful design tool.

The Lab Greensborough - Online 

Our successful technology club for young people with high-functioning Autism and Asperger’s has transitioned on-line. Participants are paired with mentors who have technical expertise of mutual interest in areas such as programming, 3D and digital design and gaming.  Groups are kept small so participants can engage in a comfortable environment.
