Student Wellbeing

Clubs

There are many good reasons to have lunchtime clubs at Concord School: meeting new people, developing social skills, doing an activity students enjoy, as well as finding purposeful activity over the lunchtime period are all positive reasons.

The Student Representative Council are the group that initiates these clubs and staff have volunteered their lunchbreak to run them.

Band, Library Club, Minecraft, Basketball, Computer, Dance and Drawing and Quiet Club that are already underway.

Concord LGBT+ Pride Group

Following inclusion-based requests by students in the Concord School community, we will be running a Pride Group as of Term 3 2020. Concord School is a member of the Safe School Coalition and promotes the inclusion, safety and voice of LGBT+ students. Minutes will be taken and made available to ensure transparency and safety of all students. This group, like any lunchtime club is optional and students may join at any time and leave at any time. Concord School recognises the significant wellbeing needs of LGBT+ young people with additional needs, and hopes to create a welcoming and safe space for LGBT+ concord students to share their thoughts, feelings and access support and resources.

· The group will meet twice a term at lunch time

· The group will be open to students in years 7-12

· Meetings will include: - A supportive sharing time - Time to discuss inclusion-based suggestions for the school

· Students attending the Pride Group will have access to: - Inclusion-based resources - The opportunity to amplify LGBT+ student voice within their school community - Voice to the creation of inclusion events in their school community - Guest speakers

This group will be facilitated by School Counsellor, and clinically registered Psychotherapist, Hillary Field. Any questions can be directed to Bronwyn Hart (Acting Assistant Principal - Wellbeing).
