Reflecting on our learning

Learning Intentions
A learning intention for a lesson or series of lessons is a statement that describes clearly what the students know, understand, and are able to do as a result of learning and teaching activities.
Clear learning intentions are used to help students focus not just on the task or activity taking place but on what they are learning.
Some common learning intentions that we use daily are
- To be able to be organised
- To know how to be respectful
- To know how to be organised
Bookmaking
- To be able to convey a message or a story through telling, writing and drawings.
Literacy
- To be able to blend sounds
- To know tricky words
- To know sounds
- To be able to rhyme
- To know vocabulary

Mathematics
- To understand altogether
- To be able to assign a total
- To be able to use 1:1 correspondence
- To be able to organise thinking.
- To be able to subitise.
- To understand mathematical vocabulary.
Success Criteria
Success criteria are linked to learning intentions. They are developed by the teacher and the students and describe what success looks like.
They help to make judgements about the quality learning.
Goal Setting
During Term 1 we held Goal Setting conferences to support your child to identify areas of strength and also areas to focus on. You will also have noticed that your child and their teacher included an update on how they were progressing with their learning goals in the report comment, as well as outlined your child’s next steps. To continue this journey we look forward to seeing all families for learning goal conferences over the next 2 weeks. This is a time for students and families to reflect and celebrate the goals they have achieved, discuss ways in which they might achieve their goal, as well as chat about new learning goals.
