Principal's Message

Celebrating Our Students

I want everyone to do one thing for your school. Go and meet a mate or phone them up and tell them one good news story about our students this week. If you are having a dinner or a quiet beer with your family...if you are at the footy on the weekend...if you are bumping into someone in the supermarket while you are picking up dinner....tell them a positive and happy story about the school or a student or a teacher you met. It will help how the kids feel about themselves.

As adults, it is our job to support and nurture the future. This is best done by "talking it up." Places like Bairnsdale can be an easy target by visitors from the city who dump on our little town. The only way to show anybody how good we are is to spread the news of stories that are worth retelling.

It is so easy to take something down, but really hard to build something up. I have the pleasure of meeting so many fantastic, young people. This town is full of them. It is no good me or the staff being the only ones saying good things - challenge yourself and your family to do the same.

Have a look through the pages of this newsletter and share the wonder of the skills, talents and endeavours of our young people who are the future of your town. Give them a leg up by spreading the word.

Athletics Day on Tuesday

We are hoping for good weather on Tuesday as our students are involved in the Athletics Day. It should be a great day of fun for everyone. I would like to recognise the wonderful work put in by the PE Department and all of the staff who want this to be successful for all of our students.

Proud Father Mark Molineux

We have had one staff member who has been a bit extra tired this week and that is Mr Mark Molineux.

Mark has been up late or rising early to watch his daughter Sophie on TV.  Sophie has been representing the Australian Cricket Test team versus England in the Ashes.

A self-confessed cricket tragic himself, Mark has been extremely proud of Sophie’s achievements over the years and we congratulate Sophie, Mark and the rest of the Molineux family on her achievements to date.
