Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart Community,

Welcome to a busy and exciting Term 4. I sincerely hope that you were able to enjoy some quality family time during the school holidays. If you are a Richmond supporter congratulations on your team's great grand final win. Just  a word of warning, and this may be the first time you have heard it, but the blues are coming!!

Today the students who are in the school choir, and six students from Year Prep to Year Two, spent the day at the Incubator Recording and Mastering Studio in Thornbury, recording our school CD. On Monday, our remaining students will be recorded in the church by the sound engineers from the Incubator Studio. It is planned to have the CD unveiled and presented live at our up coming school performance on the 21st November at the Thornbury Theatre. A more detailed letter will be sent home next week outlining the arrangements. We are all very excited about this initiative which gives all our students a great experience. The music program and the experiences it affords our students, is unique for a primary school.  I know Kate's sensational work with our students is evidenced in their enthusiasm and passion for music and in the talent they display. The CD will be a great way of capturing this enthusiasm, passion and talent.

School Keyboard and Guitar Program

A reminder that our school offers an additional and optional music program for students interested in developing and improving their keyboard or guitar skills. The program run by "Marciano" music is conducted on a Monday. Students enrolled with Davide come out of class for a half hour lesson. If parents would like to enroll their child for the term 4 program, enrollment forms are available from the office or can see me.

School Dinner Dance

As advertised in last term's newsletters, our School Dinner Dance is being held on Friday 15th November at our Parish Hall in David Street. The event as always, promises to be a great occasion for families to get together and enjoy each others company.  Jodi has displayed table allocation sheets in the school foyer, and the Parents and Friends Committee have asked that once you have organised your table, or would like to be placed on a table that you fill in the table allocation sheets.

Amelia has set up the Trybooking link which is now active for the Dinner Dance for online bookings and is

https://www.trybooking.com/553964

It's important all bookings are entered online as that will provide a full attendance list (including special dietary requirements) that we can use on the night.

School Board

Our School Board plays a very important role within our school community, in particular, providing me with feedback, ideas and initiatives,  that improve aspects of our school and our student's school life. It is also a group of stakeholders, that I have an accountability to as the principal of our school. We have three members of our board (whose contributions I will acknowledge at the end of the year) who will be moving on next year as their children will be commencing secondary school. If you are interested in joining the School Board please do not hesitate to see me over the coming weeks. We meet twice a term and members only need to be passionate about children, and their education.

Parents and Friend's Meeting

Our next Parents and Friend's meeting will be held in the staff room on Friday 18th October at 9.00am. As always, all parents are warmly welcomed to attend.

Yours sincerely,

Mark Tierney
