Dear Parents,
Please find below this week's PE work. We appreciate how challenging this process can be for everyone so I hope that we are offering work which is user friendly. The link below gives you the work in written form if your child can read and the 3 x youtube clips give the information visually if this is best for your child.
Please remember that there is no set amount of work to get through just being active for 25/30 minutes, obviously some students will get through more skills than others which is fine.

Art - Tuesday
This week we will be celebrating Diwali and will be making a paper lantern.
'Diwali is one of India's biggest festivals. Diwali means rows of lighted lamps. It is a festival of lights and every Indian celebrates it with joy. During this festival, people light up their houses and shops. They worship Lord Ganesha for good welfare and prosperity and Goddess Lakshmi for wealth and wisdom.'
Watch this video on how to make your own paper lantern:
You will need:
2 sheets of A4 coloured paper (if you don't have coloured paper you can decorate one piece of paper with colour pencils or texta, do the decoration before you start the task)
Glue...glue stick or pva
Scissors
Stapler
Coloured tape… if you don't have this you can decorate with texta or something else crafty like glitter!
REFLECTION:
Once you have completed your lantern, I’d like you to reflect on what you learnt…Some questions to ask yourself…
Had you heard of Diwali? What’s something new you learnt?
Did you find anything too hard with this task?
What did you love about this task?

Performing Arts - Thursday
GRADE 2- WEEK 5
In today’s lesson, we’re returning the story of ‘Jack and The Beanstalk’.
We’re going to look at two different sides of the same story: Jack and the Giant.
For today’s lesson you’ll need your notebook (or paper) and a pencil to write with.
Task 1: Click on the link below to watch a clip below showing Jack and the Giant with Judge Jenny.
You’ll hear two different sides to the same story. Who will you believe?
Task 2: Once you’ve watched the video clip, think about the questions that Judge Jenny asked at the end. Try giving an answer to each one (you don’t need to write your answers down, you can just say them out loud)
- Was Jack right to climb the beanstalk?
- Was the Giant right to protect his land, or could he have been friendlier?
- Do you think Jack was ‘just looking’ at the hen?
- Was the Giant right to say his terrifying poem to frighten Jack away?
So now you might have two different perspectives on the character of Jack.
Think: Is Jack the hero of the story? A brave and likeable boy who tries his best to make a better life for himself and his mother? Or, is he a naughty boy who tells lies and steals from others?
Task 3: For this task you’ll use the idea of something called a ‘character cross-over’.
What this means is that you will take on the role of both Jack and the Giant and argue the points of view for both characters.
Standing up, you’ll first be the Giant. Present your argument: “You came on to my land.”
Now you will become the character of Jack. Turn your body to face the other way (as if you are facing the Giant) and give your response: “I didn’t know it was your land, there were no fences”.
Keep changing from one character to another for as many “arguments and responses” as you can.
You can argue as Jack or the Giant, then turn and give your response.

Hint: Use the information from the video clip to help you come up with ideas if you can’t think of any of your own.
Task 4: In your notebook, write some questions that you could ask of Mr. Giant to better understand his point of view.
Use open-ended questions that would help you to gain more information from Mr Giant.
Remember: Open-ended questions or statements can begin with the following words: why, how, what, describe, explain, tell me about..., or what do you think about...
