Physical Education
Dear Parents,
Please find below this week's PE work. We appreciate how challenging this process can be for everyone so I hope that we are offering work which is user friendly. The link below gives you the work in written form if your child can read and the 2 x youtube clips give the information visually if this is best for your child.
Please remember that there is no set amount of work to get through just being active for 25/30 minutes, obviously some students will get through more skills than others which is fine.
Equipment required:

Throwing: Mascot Challenge Week 2 (2 minutes/43S)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIJvnZPkdhg
Teaching Points for Throwing:
- Stand straight upright, ball in your throwing hand and stand side on to your target.
- Make sure your feet are shoulder-width apart.
- Lift your non-throwing arm to “point” at your target and shift your weight to your back foot.
4. Lift your throwing hand so the ball is near your ear. Step forward, throw, weight onto the front foot and follow through.
Bouncing: Mascot Challenge Week 3 (2minutes/29secs)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrZx5JlcvWs&t
Teaching Points for Bouncing with one hand:
- Soft “spider fingers” to push the ball down, not the palm so should not hear slapping sounds.
- Push the ball down to rebound to hip height.
- Bounce the ball slightly in front of your body and to the side.
- The aim is to have control whilst moving and eventually not looking at the ball.

Performing Arts - Thursday,
The Orchestra
Making our own instruments.
Teacher led lesson on Google Slides:
Parent led lesson:
Line of Inquiry: How can we make sound using different materials?
Today we are going to be CREATING an instrument which comes from one family of the orchestra. I will leave the instructions on how to make an egg shaker below but if they want to make something else that is fine.
You will need: Paper, glue, scissors, rice, toilet roll or empty box and a creative mind.
What You Do:
1. Set the toilet paper roll on the coloured paper.
2. Carefully use a pencil to draw the dimensions of the roll on paper. It's okay if the paper is longer than the roll—you'll just glue over it.
3. Let your child cut out the coloured paper along your pencilled lines.
4. Glue the coloured paper on the toilet paper roll.
5. Encourage your child to draw and cut out fun shapes, designs, and fringes from other sheets of coloured paper.
6. Have them glue their decorative pieces on the roll.
7. Help your child make "caps" for their homemade maraca out of the coloured paper. The caps should be slightly larger than the paper roll openings.
8. Put a small amount of glue around one end of the paper roll.
9. Place one cap gently over the glued end.
10. Let your child add beans, pasta or rice into the paper roll.
11. Glue the cap on the other end. Wait for your maraca to dry.
12. Give your maraca shake! How does it sound?
