YEAR 5 and 6 INTENSIVE SWIMMING PROGRAM

Our Year 5’s & 6’S have started the term off with a ‘splash’ with their swimming lessons beginning day 1 back of this week at StarFish Swim School! Next week students will swim on Monday, Tuesday; with Thursday being their final day of lessons. Many thanks to all families for helping prompt their senior-school student to wash & re-pack their swim kits for each day.

YEAR 3 - 6 INTER-HOUSE X-COUNTRY

When: WEEK 3: Wednesday 2nd May 2018.

Venue: Dendy Park lower ovals, Breen Drive, Brighton East

Time: 11.30am – 1.30pm

Parent Helpers required:

WE’D LOVE AS MANY PARENTS AS POSSIBLE TO ASSIST WITH BEING A COURSE MARSHALL FOR THIS EVENT.

You’ll receive an email by early Week 3 to confirm your time offer and role specifics.

Times required are either: 11.25am – 1.40pm, or shifts: 11.25am – 12.30pm or 12.30pm – 1.40pm.

STUDENTS – We hope many of you began your training over the holidays. If not, there’s still time to improve your running endurance and fitness in these next two weeks. All it takes is locking in 2-3 x 15 minute jogs a week. Go for it!

YEAR 5&6 WINTER SPORT Football/Netball Program

Our Year 5&6 students will begin their Winter Sport Inter-School Football and Netball competition next Friday 27th April. Teams, coaches and fixtures are almost complete. Please look out for an Information note in your student’s bag today with full details about the sporting program. A CareMonkey permission email will also be sent out today. Please read over this with your child and accept permission by next Tuesday.

Football socks: If your child requires a long pair of football socks, please purchase these from the office with $8 cash. Football jumpers will be supplied by the school, however it is COMPULSORY for all footballers to wear a MOUTHGUARD. Please ensure your football playing child has one before next Friday.

Calling for any Umpires or Bus support crew members:

Any parents that are keen to support with umpiring either the netball or football on any of the six weeks, please let classroom teachers know. Once the draw is finalised in the next few days, a Parent Helpers’ roster will be sent out to all Year 5/6 parents. Please look in your diaries and see if you can support your child’s team on at least one of the five weeks of this sports program:

INTER-HOUSE ATHLETICS

ANDREW LESNIEWSKI HOUSE SPIRIT AWARD RECIPIENTS

At the completion of our Inter-House Athletics Carnival last term, two Year 6 students were awarded the Andrew Lesniewski ‘House Spirit’ award for their display of good sportsmanship over the athletics carnival.

This is in honour of one of our past student’s; Andrew L, who sadly passed away in 1996 when in Year 5, due to a virus that attacked his heart. His parents set up this ‘House Spirit’ award which we continue to award in memory of him. Our very worthy award recipients this year were: Chloe A (6H) and Oliver B (6H). Congratulations to them both!
