Boarding

Tommy Wang is Returning Home

On Friday afternoon, Tommy Wang starts his journey back to Beijing. Tommy has waited very patiently since the announcement of Remote Learning 2.0 to secure a very scarce flight. Tommy will start the long journey home on Friday and will then undertake a 2-week quarantine period once in Beijing. It has been a challenging year for Tommy starting the year in quarantine, two lockdown periods all while not seeing his family. Tommy has shown incredible resilience and upbeat attitude which is truly incredible through such uncertain times. We wish him all the best for the remainder of 2020 and look forward to welcoming him back in 2021.

Thank you to Mr Monk, Mr Palmer, Mr MacLean and Ms Tseng for all your work in supporting Tommy through this time.

New installations to boost wellbeing

This year we aimed to improve the indoor aesthetics of our boarding houses. In asking our boarders what they would like to see more of in their House, they requested inspirational quotes, bright pictures, and warming images. Well, we believe we have all made a very good start and will be installing these over the next week in preparation for our boarders’ return. An enormous thank you goes to the Hamilton Men’s Shed who assisted with the framing, as well as our own MOD, Jim Whitehead, who was able to complete the finishing touches. A wonderful effort and result Jim, well done and thank you from the Boarding House.

A boarder hitting the headlines

Harry Dorahy (Year 7) this week was on the cover of Ram and Lamb with his siblings, showing off some fine lamb handling skills. The Dorahy family are set on a wonderful farm located at Nareen in Western Victoria. Harry began his boarding journey this year and although it has been a year of unexpected twists and turns, Harry is a boarder who is regularly in contact with our House Mums, Head of Speirs House, and Boarding House Captain.
