Deep Blue – Ocean Conservation

As part of the Science Week theme ‘Deep Blue’, the Environment Group organised a Crazy Tie Day on the Friday to promote awareness of the issues facing our oceans.  The yard was awash with colourful ties and the College community was asked to think about the changes they can make to everyday life to minimise the impact on marine ecosystems.

In the Primary School, the Environment boys held a fishing competition with only legal-sized catch winning a prize.  In the Secondary School, it was snow cones and a dance party, thanks to Mr Johns, Hartley and Declan.  A great day was day by all.

There are small swaps you can make to reduce our plastic waste:

  • Bring your own shopping bag
  • Carry a reusable water bottle
  • Bring your own coffee cup
  • Pack lunch in reusable containers
  • Say no to disposable cutlery and straws

And remember…Blue and Gold makes Green.
