MCS - Ag Dept

The farm has provided many learning opportunities to the students this term with a range of projects being undertaken.

The Year 7 Mandatory Technology class has been working on building the new garden area at the farm with painted beds, new fencing and garden soil. Students have also prepared all the seedlings and seeds ready to go in for our summer crops next term. These plants will be used as part of their Paddock to Plate learning.

The Year 8 Mandatory Technology class has been working with the new layer chickens and building their recycled chicken feeders, as well as learning to drive the tractor, which is also an exciting time for them.

The Year 11 students have just received 19 new meat chickens which will be used as part of their animal assessment task next term. They will complete a growth experiment looking at how different types of water impacts the growth of the bird. They will also share them with the incoming Year 8 Mandatory Technology class who will grow and sell the chickens as Christmas roasts.

We are also expecting our goats to give birth very soon and are looking forward to having little kids on the farm once again.
