ASC Rainbow Club

The ASC Rainbow Club was presented this stunning banner created by former student Jackson Cook on Wear It Purple Day.

Wear It Purple Day is about showing rainbow young people, and everybody around us, that they have the right to be proud of who they are!

Getting to know ... Rachael

Hey! My name is Rachael and I’ve been working at ASC as a Wellbeing Officer for 12 months now and it’s probably about time I tell you a little about myself.

So ... I grew up in Canberra for most of my childhood. It’s where I went through my high school education and then where I studied and worked as a hairdresser. I then got the opportunity to live in New York City for 2 years where I had the most incredible few years working for a church and non-for-profit. We feed the homeless, worked in the projects and built the local church. When I finished up there I moved here to Armidale where I’ve had the chance to further my education and change careers.

Apart from my role here at school I am a Youth Minister at Armidale City Church where I get to run all things Youth Related. Which means I spend a lot of time with teenagers, not just when I’m at school. I run a fun and lively Youth Group every Friday night where I get to see a lot of ASC students join us as regulars. (If you’re interested, come check us out. All are welcome.)

I also come from a beautiful big family where I am child number 4 out of nine kids. I live with my cute little Labrador Pup called Raya. She loves people, all animals, and most of all food!

I love traveling pretty much anywhere but mostly overseas. I have many friends scattered around the world, so when I get the chance to visit them I have great opportunities to explore different cultures, which I love!

I love drinking coffee, reading a good book, watching a good movie, hiking through a rainforest, hanging out with friends, playing board games, exploring my faith and most of all I love my family!

Then there is the obvious, I love working with young people. I would say that I have been through a lot in my years on this earth and most of the hardest years I had been through were when I was a teen. Which makes me very passionate to help those in there teen years navigate through the ups and downs of life.

So, that’s me, what about you?

If you know me, I hope you learnt something new and if you don’t, come and say hi, I’d love to get to know you.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone at ASC!
