Parent Information Session 8th of February at 7pm
Billanook Primary School is beginning to implement a Systematic Synthetic Phonics program across our junior school classrooms. This program, named Initialit, allows all students the opportunity to explicitly be taught the phonetic code which helps them to confidently decode and spell unknown words. You can find out more information about Initialit on their website - https://multilit.com/programs/initialit/
This is something new for the Billanook community and we would like to offer families the opportunity to come along to a Parent Information Session on the 8th of February at 7pm. At this session we will be delivering a short presentation about Initialit and what it might look like within the junior classrooms. We will also have Dr. Tanya Serry joining us for a portion of our presentation to help explain the evidence base that underpins the approach. She is one of the professors that will be working alongside teachers, helping to upskill and develop their professional knowledge as a part of our Science Of Language And Reading (SOLAR) initiative in 2021.
