3/4s Update

Dear Parents/ Carers

We find ourselves ready for what is hopefully the final throes of remote learning. It has certainly been a challenging time for all involved but we are optimistic about what now lies ahead.

It goes without saying that we are incredibly grateful for the support that you have given to your child/children, and acknowledge how integral you have been in helping us deliver the curriculum over the past 6 months.

Additionally, we share a massive appreciation to the students who have, under extremely challenging circumstances, risen to the challenge of remote learning. Their commitment to giving their personal best and their positive approach to learning has been so pleasing to see. We, as teachers, have benefited from the energy they bring to the online classroom and want to send them our deepest thanks.

As we enter term 4 we will assess your child’s learning more formally. To do this, we would like to work with students and conduct independent online assessments, which may include:

● individual ‘Running Record’ reading assessments

● individual ‘Maths Online Interviews’

● small group writing conferences

To do this, we would need students to meet their teacher online at specified times.

In accordance with our online protocols, to enable this to be done your child would need to have an adult present within viewing and hearing proximity of an online assessment.

In the coming weeks your child’s teacher will make contact with you to try and arrange a convenient time for an assessment meeting.

Throughout remote learning, we have consistently provided timely feedback, whether it be written or delivered verbally during small group work on WebEx. Written feedback on a daily allocated task will continue and all tasks will be looked at and acknowledged by your child’s teacher with additional support given where it is most needed.

The assessment activities that will take place over the next 4 weeks will replace the daily small group focused teaching groups and also provide your child with additional feedback.

All the best

The 3/4 team
