Science Week

What is a Scientist?

Concepts of Science are everywhere and we engage in these transactions every day.  When talking about Science we can often present ideas to children that speak directly into the stereotypes that the world has created for us.  These stereotypes often are limiting and debilitating as they can present the myth that some things are simply not possible or that finding solutions must be left to particular people with specific skills.

This week the children have engaged in many experiences that have required them to become scientists.  There has been much hypothesising happening which requires us to think of outcomes based on our current experiences and understandings; many questions that have assisted with children collecting more ideas and thoughts; testing and trialling to prove theories and times of great celebration.  The children have had to exercise perseverance throughout the week as they have tested ideas that at times haven't met the required outcome.  A great life skill for our children to experience and build upon as they interact with new found knowledge and understanding.

A big thank you to Rachel Spry (Archie's Mum) and Xi Chen (Danny's Dad) for joining us this week in exploring some new ideas.  We appreciate your support and the time you gave to our children at Curiosity.
