Focus on Physical Education

Creativity & Movement in PE
Creativity has been the theme for Physical Education this term for the Year 3 – 6 students, as they have been busily creating their own PE games at home. Each week students were given a new category of game and a particular part of the rules to focus on. They would create and hopefully play their game at home and report back on the focus area for the week.
Each week, the Foundation – Year 2 students were given a movement challenge, such as balance challenges, strength exercises and agility games. By moving the body in different ways and having a go at the various challenges, students were exposed to exercises that can help improve strength and coordination. Again, creativity was on show with students creating many of their own animal movements or obstacle courses.
It has been outstanding seeing all the amazing photos and videos that students have submitted during remote learning 2.0. The thought, time and effort that families have put into PE lessons has been incredible. I have enjoyed seeing the smiling faces of students doing PE at home, as well as the wonderful comments and feedback students have sent through to me. Thank you to everyone for how hard you have worked this term and I look forward to seeing everyone back at school at some point in term four.
Update—Let’s Get Out of Here Challenge
At the time of writing, we are just 900km short of reaching Fiji with one week of term remaining. With some good weather coming, I am hoping we can achieve the 4000km journey before the holidays. It has been great to see so many response (500+) and it looks like lots of people have entered more than once, which is brilliant.
Below is a breakdown of student entries by year level to date, for all the number lovers.
