CHPS Sustainability Team Update
A newly formed Sustainability Team has commenced work in a number of areas to improve the Sustainability practices at Clifton Hill Primary School including:
• Introduction of a Rubbish-Free Lunchbox Challenge, encouraging students to bring rubbish-free lunches to school whenever possible
• Review of the canteen’s menu to look at ways to reduce waste produced
• Review of the efficiency of School’s solar panels
• Introduction of a compost bin, whereby each classroom will be able to compost fruit and
vegetable waste and this will then be used on gardens around the school
• A student Green Team initiative has been re-commenced, comprising of volunteer students who undertake various gardening activities around the school, such as weeding and planting every Monday lunch time
• The purchase of new planter boxes to establish student-run garden beds
The team will continue to investigate ways to improve our school’s sustainability practices.
