APLI's Charitable Status

Treasurer Chris Waples has continued to work on the issue of APLI’s charitable status.  APLI is registered as a Public Benevolent Institution, and it seems that we will be given retrospective tax-deductible status for gifts received since 2016. Members will be formally advised as soon as this is definitive. Minor changes to the APLI Constitution have been suggested to ensure that APLI fulfils all requirements under this provision. Members will be asked to consider these changes at the next AGM.

The APLI Constitution states that ‘APLI is established to be a charity whose purpose is the relief of suffering by mentoring and supporting medical professionals and others involved in the relief of pain and the provision of palliative care in developing countries.’
