GRIP Primary Leadership Conference

On Monday 4th March 2019 nine students from year 6 travelled to Goulburn to attend the GRIP Primary Leadership Conference. At the conference the children met with other leaders from primary schools and discussed ways to improve their schools and show leadership towards other students. There was a strong focus on increasing respect and responsibility of their school - and encouraging others to 'get in and have a go'. The children were good role models for our school and we look forward to seeing them implement some of their leadership strategies and ideas in our school community.

Classroom update

It's been another busy few weeks in the primary department. We are encouraging students to develop their resilience and coping skills both in the classroom and playground to help make our school a more positive place. The 5/6 class have been writing and publishing book reviews, and also working on a song for our big assembly on Friday 8th March. Year 3/4 have been doing some interesting experiments in science on liquids and their properties - while also creating some beautiful artworks for the Boorowa Show - we are proud of all of our students' artworks and we had Sam take out second prize in the individual artwork section - well done Sam!

Mrs Harpley is asking for any volunteers to assist in our cross country on Friday 5th April - please see her, it would be greatly appreciated.

Some Reminders:

Big Assembly - Friday 8th March

Circus Skills (in school) - 20th March

Lantern Making for Harmony Day (in school) - 21st March

NRL Try Day (notes handed out) - 22nd March

Boorowa Show Display

Congratulations to all students and staff for a wonderful show display, it looked fantastic and we received many positive comments about the exceptional artwork and research. Well done everyone on a fantastic team effort. Many of our students had artwork or other entries in the show and a number of these were recognised by the judges with prizes, ribbons and certificates.

Swimming for Sport

Swimming for sport has finished and we would like to thank our Austswim Instructors Brock and Jamie for their very useful water safety lessons and a thank you to class teachers for ensuring that this part of our sporting curriculum ran so smoothly.

Lastly, learning in the infants' building is humming along. Children are focused on their learning and a productive din can be heard coming from the building as teachers use fun and engaging ways to teach literacy and numeracy; the Yr 1/2 class enjoyed playing 10 pin bowls to practice their addition skills and the K/1 class have been using problem solving skills to solve real life maths problems. Students have particularly enjoyed being 'Spaghetti Scientists' in science lessons discovering the different properties of cooked verses uncooked spaghetti. The are some spaghetti towers in the hallway if any parents would like to come and have a look. We look to a fun and productive second half of the term.
