What’s in a name?

Hackham East Primary School is turning 50 in 2023 and we have some exciting plans to celebrate this big milestone.  One of these is the possibility of changing the school name.

We know that many of you have had a long association with the school often spanning multiple generations within families.  At Hackham East, we pride ourselves with the community we have built and together we can revitalise our school for the next 50 years.  We are seeking feedback from our school community into the possibility of a name change.

Changing our name is likely to encourage more enrolments through tackling negative views based simply on the suburb of Hackham.  The name of a school has an impact on potential families coming to look at our wonderful school and see the amazing things that we offer.  This is why we are considering changing the school name and coming into our 50th Birthday is a fitting time to do this - if the majority of the school community who respond think it is a good idea!

Initially we will be finding out if you think changing the school name is a good idea through a survey. If the survey shows that the majority of our community agree then we would start a planning process for what the new name possibilities could be.

Please have your say and complete this survey link by Friday 21st of October 2022.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact our Governing Council Chair – Mena by calling the school and leaving your details for her to call you back or contacting me.
