Mullauna Art Show

October 2022

Mullauna Art Show

Our VCE Art Exhibition opened on 6 October evening in the Performing Arts Centre which had been turned into a wonderful Art Gallery - all the VCE Studio Arts, Visual Communication Design and Media work was on display.

The opening night attracted hundreds of people as they enjoyed viewing the work and the accompanying festivities. Mr Harry Ruff spoke about the importance of the Visual Arts and presented a number of Principal Awards. After Ms Rebecca Holmes' speech, the show was officially opened by Brodie Cross, a former Mullauna student who completed VCE in 2012. Brodie spoke about his 10-year journey beyond high school, with its ups and downs, and how he joined the Army and is now feeding his photography passion as a Digital Imagery Specialist in the ADF. He had much praise for the high quality of our students work and he spoke about the importance of exhibitions like ours. Brodie went on to say,        ‘I leave you with one piece of advice, no one has ever done anything truly amazing without taking chances, if you see an opportunity to chase something that you enjoy then throw yourself into it, challenge yourself and have fun doing it.’

The Exhibition was then open for viewing for the next 3 school days. We invited over 300 students from 3 local primary schools to come and view the show - a great time was had by all. All our regular classes also viewed the Show and learnt about Gallery spaces and the different types of artworks that our senior students created.

Congratulations to all the students who have worked diligently this year and have displayed creativity and courage to produce work that was above and beyond even their own expectation. Over 40 staff and community members also contributed to the exhibition with a sample of their creativity outside the classroom.

Thanks also to the Visual Arts Staff for their tireless work teaching and encouraging the wonderful students - Ms Jessica Anderson, Ms Jacqueline Brush, Mr Peter Vapp and Mrs Paula Waller.
