DRAMA

Drama in the Spotlight

Drama has started with a bang and the students have risen to the challenge!

We went on excursion at the Seymour Centre to see ‘Onstage’- a selection of the best HSC works from 2022. Watching the performances and viewing the designs and portfolios was inspiring and helped give a clearer picture of the options available in the HSC year, and how to excel.

Theatresports Club has commenced. This group is open to any student in Year 11 and 12. It is a great opportunity to learn the skills of improvisation. We have had fun creating characters and situations spontaneously, with hilarious results! The students made bold and creative choices and cheered each other on as they built their confidence. This Club will be running every Tuesday during recess in the PWS.

Congratulations to Kaitlyn Brush in Year 12, who has been successful in applying for Riverside Theatre’s Upstage Club. This is a theatre club for people aged 15-22 and provides its members with access to five performances throughout the year, in conjunction with some exclusive workshops led by professional theatre makers. This is a huge opportunity for Kaitlyn to extend her understanding of theatre making within a supportive, collaborative and invigorating environment.

Looking ahead, we are excited to offer a one-day incursion for all of our Drama students to develop their assessment tasks with the assistance of their peers. The workshop will be held on Tuesday 7 March and build connections between classes and providing invaluable feedback and opportunities to develop the student’s skills.
