Clay Creations

Lots of the clay creations are heading home with students soon - take a look at some of the projects we have worked on:

Foundation: Clay Birds

Foundation students experimented with different and challenging clay building techniques to make birds. They applied texture to the clay by pressing it into patterned fabric, and cut shapes which they attached using the ‘score and slip method’. They added colour to the birds and the birds were fired in our school kiln. Well done!

Year 2: Clay Cupcakes

Year 2 students made these delicious looking cupcakes last term - they started by practicing the  ‘pinch pot method’ to create a cupcake base. They pressed this into a silicone mould to make it more realistic. They then attempted the more challenging method of coiling the clay to make the top of the cupcake. They decorated the cupcakes with colour and patterns. So sweet!
