International Student Program

This week we asked one of our international students, Rez, to share his story about moving to Australia.

"Hi everyone, my name is Rez and I moved to Melbourne from Iran at the beginning of 2022. I am a Year 11 International Student at Mordialloc College. I enjoy studying at the College and the beautiful environment here. I have made a lot of friends at Mordialloc College and I hope I can study Biology or Biomedicine at university in Australia. Apart from my busy study schedule, I have a hobby—playing the volleyball.

Through my friends, a volleyball club in South Yarra invited me to play for them as an opposite setter (position in volleyball). Soon after, another volleyball Association invited my team to play in the Australian Club Championship. We defeated the strongest team - the Canberra State Team. After we came back with the victory, we defeated all the other teams in Victoria, and we are now the champions of the Victorian Volleyball Club Championship, which means that we are the best team in the whole of Victoria.  Also, we won the Championship in the Mornington Tournament just the day after that.

Because I could play in my position very well, I received an invitation from another team to play for them as well, it is called "International Volleyball Club".  Apart from my exciting Volleyball competition, I work as a casual at a supermarket, where I have met a lot of nice people and have seen the real Australian people’s lives. I am very happy with what I am and I have learnt and have experienced so many things. I feel so lucky that my parents sent me to study in Australia."

We are so pleased to see that Rez has settled down well in Australia within one year. We thank of his teachers for their support and we wish him well for the rest of his time at the College. We would also like to congratulate Rez on his volleyball success so far and hope that this continues!
