Year 12 Biology

As part of the VCE Year 12 Biology course students are required to undertake practical investigations during the year, analyse their results, and then design their own experiment later during the year as part of their School Assessed Coursework (SAC). The practical that students were undertaking during this session was to observe the enzyme, Catalase, and its role in reducing toxic levels of chemicals that are formed in animal and plant cells . After completing the practical students have gained a better understanding of the role of enzymes and the factors that affect their structure and ultimately their function.

Science School Holiday Program

Are there any students who would like to take control of a Robotic Mission to Mars?

We are excited to announce that VSSEC will be open during these Easter school holidays as part of the Challenge and Enrichment Series.

Years 9-12 students in Government schools are invited to become Mission Specialists and run their own Robotic Mission to Mars.

Parents/guardians should book their interested students in here: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/robotic-mission-to-mars-a-school-holiday-space-experience-tickets-145797627629

This program will suit individual students and friendship groups.

It’s ideal for students who have an interest in space, science, technology or engineering. Plus, it’s open and FREE for Victorian Government secondary students.

In this half-day experience students take on the roles of engineers & scientists in a Mission Control Centre where they will direct a real Mars Rover in a highly realistic Mars crater environment.

This free program is supported by the Victorian Government Challenge and Enrichment Series.

VSSEC is in Strathmore, Victoria. More details once you have booked.
