Year 8 KIOSC - Maths

Maths at KIOSC

Year 8 Students attended their first program at KIOSC this week .  After an initial introduction by playing a logistics game in German, the day was divided into 3 sessions:

1. Coding.  Using the LightBot app inspiration, in teams of 3, students created code to program code for one of the students to follow a series of steps to turn on lights.
2. Product movement: Using DOBOT robotic arms, students solved errors in programming for a robotic arm to move in 3 dimensions
3. Line following: The automation in warehouses and lane departure warning systems in cars relies on sensors picking up differences in colour on the road.  Using this technology, students programmed Lego robots to follow different coloured lines on a series of maps.
