Taking Care of Yourself During the Circuit Breaker Lockdown
Dear Families,
Here we go again! We’ve been forced into lockdown again and many of us will have mixed emotions. Some will enjoy the time at home as a family and the quiet around the neighbourhood. Others will have mixed feelings about the whole thing. While some of us will be feeling anxious or stressed. We may be feeling financial stress or worry about family either here or overseas. Others of us may be worrying about our child’s academic progress. How we are feeling at the moment is the right feeling for us at this point in time. It is how we are feeling. What we do with our feelings is important. How will we manage our feelings could be a powerful question to ask ourselves? It could be a good idea to remind ourselves that if we need help, we should see a professional. There is our family doctor and there are many helplines to call. The Australian Government Department of Health also has some useful information on their website, click here to find out more.
Here are a few things that Beyond Blue suggest that may help us:
- Stay active
- Practise mindfulness
- Talk to your friends
- Check out some forums
- Make a homemade meal
- Take a break from the news
- Make a music playlist
- Declutter for 5 minutes
- Watch or read something
- Learn something new.

Hopefully we’ll be back at school on Thursday. If not, we’ll work together to sort out what comes next.
Let’s take care of ourselves and show kindness to everyone, including ourselves.
Thanks for all your continued support,
Andy McNeilly
