YEAR 2

Our Year Two Inquiry Unit Has Investigated Habitats and Biology

During our inquiry unit we have learnt about different animals and their habitats.  We are looking after leaf insect eggs and taking turns being wild life watchers!  Our excursion to Maru Animal Park saw us meeting Dingos, Koalas and snakes.

YEAR 5/6

On Wednesday the 31st of March year 5/6 students were lucky enough to visit the Melbourne Sea Life Aquarium as a part of our Inquiry unit where we have been learning about animal and plant animal adaptations.

At the aquarium we saw a range of different creatures such as star fish, jelly fish, sharks, sting rays, crocodiles and even penguins! We were even lucky enough to watch the penguins be fed twice.

Our favourite activities were the brand new Ocean Invaders exhibition, Ocean Kingdom, Ocean Explorer and Antarctica.

As we were exploring the aquarium, we were able to identify the different adaptations each animal had. For example, sea horses have curled tails so they can cling onto branches underwater, penguins have blubber that keeps them warm in the freezing cold weather and the angler fish has a bioluminescent light that attracts its prey.

We had a fantastic day at the Aquarium, it really allowed us to connect our inquiry unit to the real world.
