Dickens Room

We have had an incredible week with both our Marram and Wimbi classes. The Marram class has been enjoying storytelling through drama, acting out the 'Great big enormous turnip', the children role played, engaged in agency and worked together to safely participate. There was so much joy in the children both watching and acting. We spent some time consolidating our self regulation skills through some dance and movement activities with Mardi. The children followed actions, stretching their bodies and further learning how to move their bodies through space without impacting their peers.

Our Wimbi children had a shortened week with Monday's public holiday, they demonstrated moments of deep concentration and focus, exploring construction, playdoh and creative experiences.

The children have been loving stories and music and dance of late also, there is such a wonderful sense of fun and freedom as we learn new songs, dance like no one is watching and laugh as stories are read.

We are looking forward to a great week ahead.

Moore Room

What a wonderful week we had. Some great problem solving in the big block area as some cat and dog homes were being created. These problem solving abilities were evident in the sandpit as well, with some volcanoes and pipe work construction on display. The children have demonstrated great spatial awareness, negotiating, sharing and turn taking.

We have seen some very funny and expressive faces with the Mr. Potato Head with play dough as we continue to discuss our emotions. There were some lovely discussions, and drawings, as we continue to find a variety of insects. We talked about caring for the insects as well as what makes them happy or sad! There was plenty of caring and nurturing in our babies area and discussions have extended around nutrition.

The children are really embracing the C.D books which allows for; decision making through choosing their book, listening, sound discrimination and intonation as well as comprehension as we discuss the book. This is just one approach on the road to literacy that the children are thoroughly enjoying.

Have a fantastic week!
