Term 1

Feature News - Performing Arts

We hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend!

In the Senior School we have continued to look at cultural stories in 5/6, with students working in teams to present a story through dance and music. We have looked at the connection between movement and music and how it helps to tell a story. In the 3/4 classes we have been learning the song ‘Twenty Four Robbers’ and using body percussion and using this in a double circle and swapping partners. Timing was very important for this!

The Junior School has been exploring pitch and we look forward to working on our portfolio tasks throughout the following weeks. Foundation students have been exploring high and low pitch and moving our bodies to match, just like in ‘Jacks Game’ where we climbed up and down the beanstalk to the music. 1/2 students have been learning the body percussion clap sequence with a partner to ‘Miss Mary Mack’ and look forward to creating our own musical composition and playing them on the chime bars.

Production News:

Auditions will be held in the last two weeks of term. Thank you to all who have signed up, those students who attended our last meeting will be placed into an audition during lunch time. We will have a meeting prior to auditions where I can go through the audition pack.

Have a wonderful week!
