Welcome back to what was a shorter week!!

Over the last few days I have been undertaking some School Review work for schools developing their next four year Strategic Plans. This challenging work allows me to look at other local primary schools, their programs, assessment strategies and teaching models. The work we are undertaking at CJC with curriculum planning and assessment, learning interventions, Professional Learning Communities and the development of differentiated teaching approaches compares favorably with other schools and the improvements undertaken over the last few years in teaching and learning at our school will drive increased student outcomes and support the good work undertaken by teams of staff across all areas of the school.

This week we have been taking a number of calls to book school tours for the 2022 enrolment process. The French program enrolments close May 28th, and we ask families who are considering an enrolment a the school, or you know of some one who is joining the College to please contact the Office and commence this process.

A Professional Learning Community project is being undertaken by staff at our school. This is a structured approach to how meetings are conducted, how curriculum is developed and facilitated across the school, what performance data is collected and how is this used to impact on student learning outcomes. We have a great team of staff undertaking this formal learning and this is being shared with all staff and teams at our school.

School ends for term 1 at 2.30pm on Thursday April 1st. Please note this earlier finishing time and make the necessary arrangements for collecting your children.

School photos are being taken on Thursday 25th March and Sibling photos are being taken on Friday 26th March, beginning at 8.30am. This is the first time we are separating the times. Please see the page on school photos further within this newsletter for more details.

School council elections close next Monday 15th at 4pm. We are unable to accept late ballot forms.

Our Grade 6 students were allocated their exclusive year level jackets this week. These special jackets are now expected to be worn with pride. As school leaders our senior students set the standards for the school and they continue to raise the expectations of our school.

Today is the final day of the year 3 and 4 swimming program at the Glen Eira Sports and Aquatic Centre. This important program has a life saving focus and is designed to encourage swimmers to be safe around water and build their confidence when they are enjoying the water based activities available to them.

Un concours pour les plus petits et les plus grands, Sur le thème de l'air. « Les mots français vont prendre un bon bol d’air au Lycée Condorcet de Sydney. Plus de productions à venir dans la newsletter de vendredi prochain !

Je profite de cette newsletter pour souhaiter un bon retour à CJC à Caroline Pommier qui reprend ses fonctions de directrice lundi 15 mars. Ce fut un plaisir pour moi de la remplacer, avec tous les défis que le rôle comporte, mais j’ai été vraiment bien soutenue par l’équipe du leadership. Je tiens à remercier Chris Chant, Nadia Walker, Megan Barclay, Sophie Laforest, Carole Micciche, Catherine Percil et Trudy Warman pour leur soutien et leur patience. Je remercie également le School Council et le Sous-Comité français pour leur accueil chaleureux dans leurs réunions de travail.

Je tiens aussi à remercier Laure Baqué et Georgia Leonnard-Shannon, avec qui j’ai partagé mes classes. Merci également à toute l’équipe du Programme français binational pour leur excellent travail d’équipe. Un merci particulier à mes familles de Grande Section pour leur compréhension et leur soutien.

Dear CJC families,

This week’s newsletter section titled 'From our Students', features the original student productions from the French Binational Program, who are participating in a Poetic Creation Competition organised by the Lycée Condorcet in Sydney to celebrate the Francophone Week. A competition for the young and old on the theme of “Air”. “French words will dance in the air at the Lycée Condorcet this week”. More student work will be featured in next week’s newsletter!

I will use this opportunity to wish a warm welcome back to Caroline Pommier, who is returning to CJC in her role as French Director from Monday, March 15th. It was a delight to replace her, with all the challenges that this position holds, I am grateful for the fantastic support I had from the leadership team. I would like to thank Chris Chant, Nadia Walker, Megan Barclay, Sophie Laforest, Trudy Warman, Carole Micciche and Catherine Percil for their support and patience. Thank you also to the School Council and the French sub-committee for welcoming me warmly to their meetings.

Furthermore, I would like to thank Laure Baqué and Georgia Leonnard-Shannon with whom I shared my classroom. Thank you to the French Binational Program team for their excellent teamwork. Finally, a special thank you to all my Prep families for their understanding and support.
