Endeavour's Got Talent
On Friday 13 September, the Student Action Team hosted the annual Endeavour’s Got Talent, a lunch time event showcasing some incredible performers from the Endeavour College community. This year saw participants ranging from Year 7 to 12, with a variety of captivating acts including: dancing, live music, comedy acts and magic. The event was a great success, with the crowd, made up of staff members and students from all year levels, really getting behind all of the fantastic performances. A special mention goes out to Jack Wake-Dyster, whose brilliant magic performance finished in first place of the judges vote, a panel made up of two teachers, the Drama Leaders and the Music Leaders. This year saw the very first audience choice winner, which allowed audience members to decide their favourite act, through completing an online survey, with the entertaining group instrumental performance from Amish Bhindi, Arian Khosravani Goshtasb, Patrick Do and Roger Nguyen coming in first place! Congratulations to all those who performed, we are very excited to see what Endeavour’s Got Talent has in store for next year.

Connected School Art Workshops
One of the great highlights of the year for our senior art students is the Art Workshops at our Connected Schools. This year following the book week theme we looked at Super Hero onomatopoeia. The sounds that superheros make when they do the things that super heroes do! The work that the students produced was colourful and exciting. No doubt it will make a great wall display.
It was wonderful to see the interaction between our students and the Year 4 students from Golden Grove, St Paul and Good Shepherd.
Thank you to the staff that accommodated these visits.

Year 10 Mathematics Experience University of South Australia
On Friday 30 August, Aryan Patel and I were fortunate enough to be treated to a mathematics experience at the Mawson Lakes, UniSA campus. We kicked off the day by meeting some of the mathematicians studying at UniSA, who were very fascinating to listen to. Following that, we started doing mathematical activities.
The first activity we did was to build a sturdy bridge that would hold up against increasing pressure from underneath it. To do this, we were tasked with utilising the 3D printers to make the bridge. We were briefed on how 3D printers create objects and were then required to create a 2D bridge on Microsoft Excel by plotting points on a graph. These graphs were then converted to 3D printer code and printed out. Towards the end of the day, they were all tested.
The second activity we did involved more mathematics, where we were split into groups and were introduced to an activity named ‘Conway’s Rational Tangles’. This involves four people standing in a square formation, with two ropes with the ends being held by people at the opposite ends of the square. Participants were to perform a rotate or a twist. Twists involved two adjacent participants switching place, and a rotate is when all group members rotate. Rotation is required as only one specific side of the square at a time can twist, so rotations change which participants twist. The rules of the activity were to find out what sequence needed to be performed in order to untangle a set amount of twists performed at the start. We were then instructed at the end to find a pattern and find out a mathematical formula to calculate the exact sequence needed to untangle X amounts of twists. Of course, a solution was found utilising negative reciprocals.
We then got to interview employees in mathematically focused jobs, in order to find out a little more about their career and to help educate us about possible career options.
The day concluded and everyone went home with much to consider.
Overall, the experience was very fascinating, and listening to the presenters speak was personally very exciting for me. I encourage everyone who is in Year 9 who is interested in mathematics to consider this invaluable opportunity.

Old Scholars Reunion, Class of 2009
The 10-year reunion of the class of 2009 provided the opportunity for old scholars to reconnect with each other, current and former staff recently. Old scholars reminisced over their time at Endeavour. It was great to catch up with their news of changes in their lives – travel adventures, jobs, marriages and babies.
On a school tour they were amazed by the inevitable changes to buildings, computers and technology and resources. During their time they recalled having to share computers, either in dedicated computer rooms or in the pods in classrooms and abseiling down the College wall outside the mall!
Spanning a range of industries, classmates shared the careers that are in including teaching, medicine, serving in the defence forces, nursing, copywriters, fitness and training businesses, electricians. So many pathways, so much talent and so many dreams being realised. It was great to hear of the memories of Endeavour too, including inspirational teachers, camps and formative experiences.
