After school help
Parents please help the teachers on 'After School Duty' by keeping your children off the playground, and stop them from playing ball games after the final bell. We are not able to supervise the students at this time and do not want anyone (younger siblings, students or parents) getting hurt or injured.
Many thanks.
Australian Maths Competition
Well done to the 43 students from Grades 3-6 who participated in the Australian Maths Competition on Thursday 1st August. The tests we tough, but our students worked well to solve the difficult problems and will only benefit from the experience. I am looking forward to getting the results back and sharing them with the students later this term (or early next term).
Here are a couple of questions from the test:
At my local greengrocer, you take a ticket from the machine and wait until your number is called. The roll of tickets goes from 000 up to 999. When I was there last week with my neighbour, we took two tickets in a row and our two numbers added to 777. What was the next ticket number after ours?
John is one year older than his wife Mary. They have three children, whose ages are two years apart. The product of John and Mary's ages is less than 2019. The product of the three children's ages is also less than 2019. Next year both these products will be greater than 2020. This year, what is the sum of all five ages?
(If any student can work out these answers, come and tell me and I have a small prize for the first 5 to do so)
Thanks again to the Parents and Friends Committee who sponsored the event. We saw our entrant numbers rise from 22 last year to 43 this year!!
