EISM GLORY!

From Nic Green, Head of Sport & Outdoor Education

Our EISM team of 53 students has just returned from MSAC and I am delighted to announce that once again we have brought home the silverware! That makes it 12 wins in a row. We managed to hold Luther off again, beating them by a margin of 78 points. To add to our success, we won the boys aggregate as well (also for the 12th year in a row).

Once again we had great support in the stands, with many parents as well as staff and students attending.

I’d like to thank Helen Aden, Brendan Powell and the HSAC staff for their work with the team. The preparation included a hearty lunch and smoothies before we departed. Thanks to Phil Grimm and the Boarding House staff for the delicious food that kept us all well fuelled. I'd also like to thank Jenni Deubel and Carly Buhagiar for help in the sports office, Marion Power and Barbara Hender for their help on the night and Andrew Horton and Mel Beal for their support in the stands.

The fact that this is always a team effort was highlighted by the fact that there were a number of reserves who attended, some of whom helped out with EISM duties for the night. Team success was also highlighted in the relay results, with every team finishing on the podium except one (4th place). Some other notable stats were:

  • 21 first place getters (that equates to 30% of all wins at the meet)
  • Podium finishes in 73% of all events (51 total)
  • The winning of 11 of 20 relays
  • Age group champion was awarded to the Boys' U13, 14 and 15.

With an extra six blue ribbons coming home this year, I simply cannot list all of the achievers on the night. Well done and congratulations to everyone involved!
