Mexican Street Food hits

ECSC Food Technology kitchen

Our Year 7 students did an amazing job this term working on their Mexican Street Food Unit. They explored authentic Mexican street food ingredients and compared it to Tex-Mex food. In class, students were given recipes for Mexican dishes that were written in Spanish and then worked through them with a partner. Students decoded their recipes in sections by working out the ingredients, verbs and utensils required for their dishes. They had the opportunity to cook chicken tacos, frijoles, guacamole and quesadillas using the recipes from class. A big 'muchas gracias' to the Food Technology teachers, Sara and Rachael, for assisting students with their Mexican cooking. Well done to all students - this is a great example of using your language learning for a real purpose!
